Kenny completed his undergraduate studies at Simon Fraser University in molecular biology before obtaining his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Leeds in 2019. During his time in Leeds, Kenny participated in Citizens Advice Appeals Clinic where he assisted clients with welfare benefits appeals to the tribunal. He was also involved in StreetLeeds, where he delivered presentations on topical legal issues to secondary school students, with the aim of inspiring them to pursue a career in law.

Prior to articling at a boutique law firm in Langley, BC, Kenny worked for an international law firm as an Anti-Money Laundering Analyst. In 2022, Kenny was called to the bar in British Columbia and he is now practicing both family law, and wills and estates.
