Collaborative Law

Collaborative law is an increasingly popular alternative to the court process that can save time and money. Collaborative law is a team approach to separation and divorce. Both parties are represented by their own lawyer, however, at the outset, the parties and their lawyers must sign a written Participation Agreement committing to:

  1. work together to resolve issues without going to court;
  2. be open and honest in all their communications;
  3. promptly disclose all relevant information; and
  4. keep negotiations confidential.

The focus of collaborative law is working together to come up with solutions that best serve the parties’ needs.
